Daniels first exposure to Electronic music was in the mid nineties whilst
studying Graphic Design in Glasgow. Many Saturday nights were taken up at
The Tunnel club, at their 'Triumph' night with resident DJs Steven Mcreery
and Colin Tevendale. After a year or two he could resist the temptation no
more and bought a pair of Technics from a local store. The rest, as they
always seem to say, is history.
By 2000, the Prog house scene in the city seemed to have all but
disappeared. The only notable club to continue 'spreading the word' was the
Arches, as the Tunnel had turned its attention to the ever popular R&B
sound. Promoters were less and less willing to try out the new local talent.
The way forward seemed to be production.
Daniel realised the easiest way to get into production from scratch was with
a PC and some software. 3 years (and a lot of hard work) later, several
labels expressed interest in an E.P Daniel had produced called 'working
titles'. This was the start for him and he had soon secured several signings
with Tortoise Shell recordings, Climax, Innovate, and Underground Lessons.
Daniels influences include artists from every musical genre and ranges from
Pink Floyd, Syd Barrett, The Doors, to the Stone Roses and other Manc style
bands of the time, up to modern downtempo groups such as Zero7, Air and of
course the multitude of prog, tech and Deep house producers/DJs that are now
on the scene. His style is largely Melodic and loves trying to create an
atmosphere in his tracks. See for yourself!
