Nick Galatsopoulos a.k.a Nikola Gala was born in Thessaloniki/Greece in 1980.Computer freak from his early age until now and being a big fan of technology lead him working for major computer companies in his hometown but music was always a passion for Nikola,but what pushed him into production was his first home computer,the legendary Amiga 500 running a tracker as the composition tool. Inspiration for his first productions,in the early '90s,was electronic bands like "The Prodigy","2Unlimited" and "Underworld".Just a "small" computer wasn't enough for Nikola to let him release his music ideas,so building a home studio was the next step.While setting up the studio he got into a "sound engineering school" where he got some very important lessons about "the sound" in general. After finishing the sound engineering school(2years) his first productions came out with a special touch of trance feeling and technoid rhythm and got signed by a German label group named "Sha-Ka-Ree"(www.shakaree.de), using "Source Unknown" as his first artist name.His first album release "Am-Receiver" in 2001, established him as one of the upcoming producers in the international electronic dance scene, while at the same time he had started his live appearances as a dj, at clubs around the world, at places like Tokyo,Tel Aviv,Cologne and Skopje. In the year 2002 Nick's music interest got attracted by the "progressive" sound and as a result he started to produce as "Nikola Gala".His first production, as Nikola Gala, came out from "SproutMusic" (www.sproutmusic.de) 8/2003 on a singe 12" with 2 deep progressive tribal tracks, "Body-Soul-Harmony" and "Deeper Shades".Nikola Gala as an artist name became very popular after the co-release with "John Con" of the track "Swing 2 Harmony",which was included in the "Local Underground" compilation from the Greek dance label "Planetworks" (www.planetworks.gr) in April 2004 and also Ultra.Trance:4 compilation from Ultra Records(www.ultrarecords.com)."Swing 2 Harmony" has also been released on Matthew's Dekay label "DK" records and is also sub-licensed to "Ministry of Sound".Nikola is very busy with his productions and remixes at the moment and more releases are coming up on several labels like Precinct,Blue Planet,Planetworks,Deep and records with already great feedback from music lovers and dj's around the world like Sasha,Pete Tong,Anthony Pappa,James Holden and many more... His Dj career continues with much success while Nikola's monthly residency at the "We Love Fridays" (www.mylos.gr) nights in Thessaloniki already became legendary,playing alongside G-Georgiou.
